The main purpose of the qualification is to allow learners to develop hair and beauty skills, techniques and knowledge to prepare them for further vocational studies. Learners are prepared directly in each unit for further studies in the beauty sector. The course was designed as a foundation for working in the Hair and Beauty sector. Knowledge of the hair and beauty sector is developed to allow progression to Hairdressing or beauty therapy. Pupils will travel to a leisure center in Carmarthen and back to school and the course will be delivered one afternoon a week over a period of two years by Coleg Sir Gâr staff.

It is noted that there are a maximum of 36 places on the course. The school will consider the effort, dedication and attendance of learners if there is more interest in the course than the numbers allowed.
