The qualification is suitable for learners who want to develop awareness in the fields of construction. There will be an opportunity to investigate Brick and Plaster trades. It is an opportunity to introduce basic practical skills together with an understanding of essential theory to work safely, plan basic construction projects and to complete work to the expected standard of the Construction industry. Pupils will travel to Bryngwyn school to the construction centre for practical lessons every Monday morning.
It is noted that there are a maximum of 36 places on the course. The school will consider the effort, dedication and attendance of learners if there is more interest in the course than the numbers allowed.
Students' understanding of how to comply with the legal requirements of Health and Safety working in the Construction sector is developed.ย
Knowledge and understanding of how to plan to reduce personal and other Health and Safety risks in Construction is developed.ย
Pupils will learn how to interpret technical information to plan and review building renovations.ย
Appropriate practical skills are used in trades disciplines to complete renovation tasks to an expected standard.
Knowledge and understanding is further developed to successfully plan the basic project of the built environment.
The work will be assessed through practical assessments and the learners' portfolio work throughout the course. This will count towards 75% of the course. There will be 1 exam at the end of year 10 worth 25%.
