We are the Heddlu Bach team at Glan Usk Primary. Our role is to make our school community a better place now and in the future.
Our Roles and Responsibilities
We wear our uniform with pride, acting with respect, honesty and compassion.
We always try to help others.
We monitor lunch time behaviour in the KS2 corridor.
We try to make sure everybody is happy at break and lunch times, working alongside Playground Pals.
We work alongside other Pupil Participation groups when needed.
Heddlu Bach Workshops
Throughout the year we have met with PC Alex Donne to learn about different areas of the Gwent Police force and their work. We have had workshops on a range of topics such as Police vehicles, Police Dogs and the different uniforms the police force where.
Protecting Our Devices
This year we have had the very important job of protecting our school's electronic devices using SmartWater. SmartWater is a traceable liquid applied to items of value to protect our devices and prevent theft in our school. We applied this liquid to all electronic devices in school to ensure they are protected from theft.
What We Are Working On This Term
This term we are going to link with the PCSO to deliver an assembly on road safety-focusing on walking to and from school.
We have also been working on Easter cards for KS2 to send off to a local OAP complex.
We have been planning to do an FP assembly.
We are also planning to be more visible during lunch times.
Summer Term
Our target is to improve our wider school environment to promote cleaner school grounds. We also would like to promote wildlife on our school grounds.
We would like to help out with Foundation Phase Race For Life by helping the children, if they have injured themselves or feel nervous or scared to run. We would like to create a 'safe space' where the children can sit with us and be comforted.
We are also planning to support them during their Sports Day by cheering them on and being there for them when they feel nervous.
We are planning to collaborate with the Eco Warriors to support our plans.
We are creating a Heddlu Bach nestbox / Bug hotel to place around school grounds. We will work with Year 2 as we know they are really excited about learning more about Heddlu Bach.
We would like to arrange a school-wide litter pick on World Environment Day (5th June). We are planning for Year 5 and 6 to complete a community litter pick in the local area.
Our goal for this is to raise awareness of recycling.
