Shwmae! We are the Healthy Heroes.
Our role at Glan Usk is to encourage everybody to make healthy choices - this includes physical and mental health. We aim to promote a healthy lifestyle through assemblies and posters, and hope to make it easier for children to have healthy snacks. We reward healthy choices by giving stickers, certificates and Dojo points.
Our 2024-2025 aims are:
To encourage everybody to make healthy food and drink choices, and to improve their physical health
To develop an understanding of mental health and how to look after it
To promote World Health Day
During our first meeting, UKS2 decided that they would like to reward FP children that have healthy lunchboxes or who are eating their salad and vegetables. Keep a lookout for these children in the lunch hall - they have rewards for you!
We enjoyed meeting and discussing our aims for this year!
We are busy behind the scenes preparing for Children's Mental Health Week, 3-9 February.
We will be presenting in both FP and KS2 Assemblies, and have shared some exciting activities with your teachers too!
Again this year, we are promoting Eat Them To Defeat Them - an initiative to encourage younger children to eat more, and a wider variety of vegetables. Look out for an information link on your class Seesaw! Every child in years R-Y5 will also be bringing home a reward chart so that you can participate in the challenge!
Stay tuned for details on our upcoming assembly on Tuesday 8th April!
Busy making posters to promote our upcoming Sports Days! Exercise is really good for both your physical and mental health. So be there!
