Meadowlane Primary School
Meadowlane Primary ‘City of the future Cluster Project’.
Initially before embarking on the 3 week project. Science and tech AOLE leader Lisa Wilcox and IT leader Lucy Mussa, presented the project to all teaching staff and SLT of Meadowlane Primary via twilight INSET.
A powerpoint presentation was shared with staff mainly the aims and objectives of the project and how it embedded into the new Curriculum. Ideas of websites and opportunities for good practice were also shared and discussed with staff and then it was timetabled in for the whole school to complete from 1st November 2021- 19th November.
The aim and expectation was for it to run for a three week period, then showcase as a cluster at Bryn Hafod. Unfortunately, this could not go ahead as planned so we have planned our own showcase to display and share with the rest of the school and online with parents, social media and other professionals the children’s cities on Friday 26th November 2021.
All year groups started off with pupil voice discussions in class in order to collaborate and produce their own city of the future. Ecological and sustainable issues were discussed with the pupils to demonstrate the importance of including these into our future designs.
Week 1 - Designing
Week 2- Making
Week 3 Evaluations
Evidence of the evaluations of the project show progression across the school, demonstrating the four purposes; enterprising, creative contributors and ethically informed citizens. The pupils have collaborated with others, demonstrated great resilience with failed design protocols , and improved their growth mindset with the refusal to give up at the first hurdle!
