What is the Early Years Pupil Development Grant (EYPDG) and Education Improvement Grant (EIG)?

The Early Years Pupil Development Grant (EYPDG) is funding from the Welsh Government intended to overcome the additional barriers learners face which prevent them from achieving their full potential.  EYPDG funding should be used to make a lasting impact on children’s learning and development. Local Authorities and Regional consortia are responsible for ensuring that the grant is used for the purposes for which it is intended.  

The EYPDG sets out three key areas to consider grant spends:

Settings receive the Education Improvement Grant (EIG) to improve the quality of teaching and learning. EIG is used to attend EAS NMS professional learning, and regional practice worth sharing events and network meetings. All settings work closely with their improvement partner to ensure professional learning reflects setting improvement plan priorities.
