What is an EAS Non-Maintained Setting Improvement Partner?

The EAS NMS Improvement Partners provide support to practitioners and leaders on effective teaching and learning for young children. This includes advice and guidance on Foundation Learning practice and pedagogy and how to monitor the impact of this on children’s learning and development. NMS Improvement partners provide bespoke support to settings to ensure all children have engaging and stimulating experiences that supports their progression well. Around 80 NMS across the five local authorities are supported by EAS core staff partner school staff. The NMS improvement partners design, manage and deliver an annual professional learning offer (PLO) for practitioners in funded non-maintained settings. The PLO ensures that all settings across the region can provide high quality early education.

The improvement partners plan and deliver professional learning according to the changing needs of the region’s non-maintained settings. Professional learning is updated annually, reflecting the developing practice in settings and national updates to the curriculum and pedagogy.

Each local authority has a lead IP who is in regular contact with the LA officers responsible for Early Years.
