Behaviour
We have high expectations for our pupils, we have a positive approach to establishing appropriate and acceptable behaviour across the Canolfan and the wider school and community. We reinforce good behaviours, modelling how we want our learners to behave, and ensuring that they are part of our behaviour management process. Pupils are encouraged to contribute to developing our rules, sharing ownership and given responsibility to follow the rules they have agreed are important.
Behaviour support plans are established for pupils when needed, in collaboration with staff, pupils and parents, and sometimes the behaviour support service. We endeavour to instil a sense of responsibility for self-management of behaviours and give pupils the tools and strategies to recognise how to manage different scenarios safely and appropriately.
Staff are Team Teach trained and use de-escalation and distraction techniques to be proactive in managing challenging behaviour. We use physical interventions as a last resort and in line with the BILD Code of Practice.
Canolfan Amanwy is actively opposed to any form of bullying and it will not be tolerated in our community.
