Nam clyw /
Hearing impairment
Caiff byddardod ei ddisgrifio mewn lefelau: mân, cymedrol, difrifol a dwys.
Bydd rhai disgyblion wedi cael teclyn clyw, fodd bynnag nid dyma’r achos gyda phob plentyn gan ei fod yn dibynnu ar y math o nam clyw (e.e byddardod unochrog).
Siaradwch gan wynebu’r disgybl gymaint â phosibl. Sicrhewch fod y disgybl yn talu sylw.
Siaradwch yn glir ond heb arafu na siarad yn uwch na’r arfer - mae gweiddi yn amharu ar batrwm y wefus.
Cofiwch ail-adrodd, ail-ddweud, esbonio, symleiddio ac egluro.
Peidiwch â sefyll o flaen ffenest neu o flaen golau i siarad neu i ddangos rhywbeth gan bydd hyn yn ei gwneud hi’n anodd i’r disgybl ddarllen ystumiau wynebol neu ddarllen gwefusau.
Ceisiwch beidio â symud o amgylch yr ystafell yn ddianghenraid wrth siarad.
Ceisiwch osgoi cuddio’ch wyneb a siarad e.e â’ch cefn tuag at y grwp.
Ynganwch seiniau tawel yn glir e.e. “ng”, “h”.
Ceisiwch sicrhau nad oes mwy nag un person yn siarad yr un pryd.
Ceisiwch gael gwared ar seiniau allanol/cefndir – e.e. cau ffenestri/drysau.
Deafness can be described in levels: mild, moderate, severe, profound.
Some children will have a hearing aid, but this is not true in every case as every case is different and will depend on the type of impairment.
Face the child when speaking whenever possible. Ensure that they are paying attention.
Speak clearly but without slowing down or speaking louder than usual - shouting will affect the lip pattern.
Remember to repeat, explain, simplify and explain.
Don't stand in front of a window or light to speak or to show something as this will make it difficult to read visual expressions or to lip-read.
Try not to needlessly move around the room when speaking.
Try to avoid hiding your face when speaking e.g. back to the group.
Pronounce softer sounds clearly e.g. "h".
Try to ensure that only one person speaks at a time.
Try to mute outside sounds e.g. close windows/doors.
