Visible Mending:
The Gift of Repair Workshop
Hopewell Community Event

April 26, 2025, 2-4 pm
Join us on Saturday, April 26 from 2 to 4 pm in the Hopewell Valley Central High School Community Room for a workshop on clothes mending with Philadelphia artist and community organizer Shari Hersh.
Visible mending, the art of repair and maintenance, is an investment in the ethos of sharing, communing and mutuality. A radical act as an alternative to reproducing the commodity intensive society, repair allows us to create love, connection and environmental care. In this workshop participants will learn a beautiful mending technique for blue jeans (or any other cotton or linen garment). As an alternative participants can take home a demonstration piece that can be reworked on to an existing item or serve as a map for a needed repair.Â
*Participants are encouraged to bring blue jeans or other cotton/linen clothing that needs mending. (Knits and clothing with a high percentage of spandex are not appropriate for this technique.)
*$10 per person (cash only): learn mending techniques & go home with a repair kit of your own!
*This workshop is sponsored by the HVCHS Youth Environmental Society. Questions may be directed to carolynmcgrath@hvrsd.org.
