BRYAN CREMER is from Katy, TX where he graduated from James E. Taylor High School. Upon graduation, he attended the University of Kansas where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. During his time at KU, Mr. Cremer performed on saxophone in many ensembles, including the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble I, Symphony Orchestra, Saxophone Quartet I, Men’s Basketball Band, and the Marching Jayhawks.
After leaving Kansas, Mr. Cremer began his teaching career at WoodCreek Junior High in his hometown of Katy, TX where he served as assistant band director for 13 years. Under his direction, the WCJH Symphonic Band received consistent superior ratings and sweepstakes awards at the UIL Concert & Sightreading Evaluation. Mr. Cremer also created the WCJH Jazz Program in 2012 and was asked in 2023 to serve as director for the KISD Summer Jazz Workshop. In addition to teaching, he has been an active performer in the Houston area as baritone saxophonist with the Lone Star Symphonic Band, principal alto saxophonist with the Sugar Land Winds, and arranger/organizer for his own saxophone quartet.
Mr. Cremer is a member of the National Association for Music Educators, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Jazz Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Fraternity.
Outside of music, Mr. Cremer also enjoys gardening, cooking and exploring local culinary offerings, playing PC/PS5 games, watching KU basketball and Astros baseball, and spending time with his girlfriend, Chelsea, and adorable pup, Rigby. Mr. Cremer is excited to be joining the amazing students and staff of Hippo Nation as we create traditions and memories with the very first bands at Gus Almquist Middle School!
TREY LOCKETT serves as Assistant Band Director at Gus Almquist Middle School, where he is the director of the Symphonic Band and teaches the beginner brass classes. He also serves as a sponsor for the Gus Almquist Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Prior to his current appointment at Gus Almquist, Mr. Lockett was Assistant Band Director at Hutto Middle School for two years, where he was the director of the Concert Band and taught beginner brass classes.
Mr. Lockett holds the degrees of Master of Music in Music and Human Learning from the University of Texas at Austin (2022) and Bachelor of Arts in Music from Clemson University in South Carolina (2019). During his time at the University of Texas, Mr. Lockett served as a graduate teaching assistant for the band program, working with the Longhorn Marching and Pep Bands, and managing the Texas Bands social media channels. During his time at Clemson, he was a member of the Symphonic Band and the Tiger Band for five years. As a member of Tiger Band, he served as a drum major for three seasons.
In addition to his role at Gus Almquist, Mr. Lockett serves on part-time staff with Hutto Young Life, a Christian student outreach ministry and mentorship program. He is an active member of Celebration Church in Georgetown, where he serves on the worship team. In his free time, Mr. Lockett loves anything outdoors and a good meal with some great friends. If your goal is to make Mr. Lockett talk for hours on end, mention any of the following: Clemson football, Chick-fil-A, spreadsheets, or dad jokes. Mr. Lockett was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama.
Mr. Lockett is looking forward to another great year with the awesome students of the Gus Almquist Middle School!
ALLEN CAMPOY is a percussionist and educator from Austin, Texas, and is excited for his first year with the Hutto Band!
Mr. Campoy received his bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University where he performed with the TCU Percussion Orchestra at the 2019 Percussive Arts Society International Convention. At this same convention, he placed top five in the Collegiate Solo Keyboard Contest.
Mr. Campoy recently received his master’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he served as the drumline instructor for the Cornhusker Marching Band. He was also selected as the winner of the Graduate Solo Concerto Competition in 2023.
Outside of college, Mr. Campoy was a member of the Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps in 2018, a featured guest speaker at the Sonart Music Festival in Santa Marta, Colombia in 2021, and placed third in the duet division of the 2022 Great Plains International Marimba Competition.
When he’s not working, Mr. Campoy enjoys cooking, reading, hiking, being at the beach, and shredding at Guitar Hero.
