My name is Israel Hernandez and I was born and raised in Salinas, California, and graduated from Salinas High School in 2005. From there, I went on to attend the University of California, Berkeley, where I majored in English Literature and minored in Education. I also graduated from the Multicultural, Urban, and Secondary English (MUSE) program at Berkeley's Graduate School of Education. I have been teaching at Hayward High school since 2015. What I love best about teaching is that I get to learn more about my students through written and artistic expression. In my spare time, I enjoy running, watching hockey, playing video games, and spending time with my loved ones.
