NSPCC Number Day

On Friday 3rd February, the school took part in the NSPCC Number Day which was a maths-inspired fundraising day. Children were invited to come to school in costume or wearing clothes with numbers on them, it was fantastic to see the different costumes and clothing.

Children in each class took part in a range of maths activities including Buddy's Key challenge and number hunts.

As a school, the primary raised £169 for the NSPCC. Funds raised from Number Day will help support vital NSPCC services such as Speak out Stay Safe which visits primary schools across the UK to teach children about the dangers of abuse and what they can do if they need help.

Thank you all for your donations and effort towards Number Day!

Times Table Rockstar

There has been an update in the use of TTRS Jamming session. The hugely popular Jamming game mode is designed to encourage players to challenge themselves and maximise the impact from their time in this game.

For that reason, Jamming games don't allow users who are already really fast at certain tables to "grind" them (for example  2×, 5×, 10× and 11×) - that is to exploit easy tables in order to win excessive coins or to perform better in a Battle of the Bands or the Times Table Winner of the week. In itself, that's not always a problem but becomes detrimental when it sways a competition, influences who earns certificates or means they're spending less time sharpening the facts that need more practice. The children have quickly noticed this change, but it will even out the playing field and all children with work on the times tables they need to focus on.  An explanation can be found here TTRS Jamming update.
