A group of our pupils recently acted as school ambassadors at the Medway Children and Young People’s Mental Health Event. The day provided an opportunity for our children to engage with the wider Medway youth network. Pupils gained insight into various support services available across the local community and engaged in open discussions to help reduce the stigma associated with mental health.
Through specialist workshops such as the creepy crawlies, the group explored activities designed to support resilience and emotional health and empowered them to understand how they can develop their own social and emotional wellbeing. They demonstrated wonderful maturity while exploring these important themes, proving themselves to be true ambassadors for our school values.
Parents and carers from the LAT peninsula schools attended our General Wellbeing Workshop, led by counsellor Paula Johnson. Paula explored the importance of adults being role models for self regulation and setting personal boundaries so they can be present for their children. She also shared, some handy hints for supporting children with understanding the Zones of Regulation and developing their emotional literacy.
Here are some of resources that Paula shared:
Balance app - Meditation and sleep
Headspace app - Healthier happier you
Chill Panda - Manage your worries and improve your wellbeing
Breathe app - Managing your breathing to relax
