Unit 1-2: Vocabulary/Mime Pantomime/Lip Sync
Week 1, January 5-9
Classroom norms, get to know each other, basic vocabulary, get onstage ASAP!
I use this week to get to know my new students and get them on the stage as soon as possible. My goal is for all students to be used to being on the stage immediately so when they perform it is less scary.
Monday: Holiday, Staff workday
Tuesday: Learn classroom procedures, expectations, and tour the theater.
Take home procedure/expectation packet to be signed
Wednesday: What to do/What not to do scene activity
Thursday: First half of class we will learn basic theatre vocabulary
Friday: Upstage/downstage & Pictionary
Week 2, January 12-16
Monday: Acting Etiquette/Audience etiquette notes followed by 4 rehearsed improv scenes on the do's and do not's of acting/audience etiquette
Tuesday: Mime & Pantomime Lesson
Wednesday: Act out scenes
If you missed a day of notes this will be your time to make up all missing notes.
Thursday: Study Stations
Friday: Open Note Exam
Week 3, January 19-23
Monday: Martin Luther King, Jr Day- Holiday
Tuesday: Intro to Lip Sync
Divide into groups, begin selecting up to 3 songs you could be comfortable doing as your assignment. No phones may be used in this process, but groups may take turns on the newlines or go from their own memory of songs. (I believe in you!)

Wednesday: Begin memorizing lyrics, Lyrics due
Thursday: Continue Memorizing Lyrics
Friday: Memorize Lyrics/Lyric Check (formative)- students do not have to sing the lyrics, just say them.
Week 4, January 26-30
Lip Sync Project
Monday-Wednesday: Continue rehearsing Lip Sync & finalize all choreography/props/costumes.
Thursday: Students will perform for their peers & receive feedback (Students complete a Glow/Grow handout for a formative grade)
Friday: Lip Sync Performance - Rubric HERE

Unit 2: Fairytale scenes & Characterization
Week 5, February 2-6
Introduce Characterization/Scenes
Monday: Characterization notes, Packet Review, assignment timeline, review rubric.

Thursday: Objectives/Tactics, Rehearse
Friday: Field Testing for 6th Grade. Objectives/Tactics Continued, Rehearse, Turn in Character Profile
