The Summer Creek High School Tiny House Branch has several events that it hosts: Veterans Day, Notes of Love, Selection Ceremony, Open House, and many more in the works.
[NEW!] Foundations Festival: A joint fall themed festival, planned in efforts to raise money for the architecture program, as well as other programs at SCHS. We offer a variety of different activities created by the various participating organizations!
Veterans Day: Veterans day is a field trip of Architecture Students to visit the Langetree property; which is where the houses go. The experience is fun and heartwarming as students get to talk to veterans living on the property and their stories.
Notes of Love: Notes of Love is an event in which the Architecture Committee showcases the progress of how far the house has gone. Attendees are also invited to put "Notes of Love" in the walls before they are closed up. It is an impactful event that allows the program to add something special to each house.
Selection Ceremony: The selection ceremony is a presentation of the chosen Tiny House designs in efforts to be a architect of that year's Tiny House! As far back as the First Tiny house, we picked student architects to design and build our Tiny House, each year having more than the last! We still continue to improve the ceremony each year, to make it the best we can as proof of our growth over the years at Summer Creek!
Open House: Open House is the final Tiny Home event of the year in which the Architecture Committee showcases the finished house from the school year. It's one of our biggest events we plan, and we invite everyone to come!

Notes of Love is one of our main events of the year; in which we showcase the progress of the Tiny House. We serve desserts while people sit down and listen to the Committee president, the architect of the current house, and other special guest speakers give their speeches regarding Tiny House. Afterward, people are able to see the Tiny House in progress and guests can then write "Notes of Love" to the future Tiny House veteran! These notes are stapled to and remain within the walls of the Tiny House forever! It's an amazing experience and we highly encourage all to come!
This was Mr. Gaylords last event as Summer Creek's Architecture Teacher :(

Lead Architect for Tiny House no.5 !!
Every year, SCHS Tiny House holds the Tiny House selection ceremony! The ceremony is a presentation of the top 10 chosen Tiny House designs from all classes, to be the architect of the next year's Tiny House! As far back as the First Tiny House, we picked student architects to design and build our Tiny House, each improving upon the year before with its own unique twist and style!
Each selected student gets the opportunity to present their Tiny House floor plan, 3D model, and render. Students present and explain their concept, learning a skill of professionalism. Additionally, the top 10 will also make posters (similar to those used in the MGM competition), displaying a summary of their concept for guests to view.
Food, desserts, and beverages are provided, as well as opportunities to view the 3d models of each selected TH (and maybe buy a T-shirt *winkwink*)! It's an amazing experience that we welcome all to come, as you get to see the future of Tiny House being made in front of your eyes!
Top 10 nominees: Andres Rodriguez, Angelina Casanova, Ariyana Beale, Caitlin Chao, Christopher Hendershot, Emily Hargrove, Erely Flores, Jonathan Davila, Kamila Rodriguez, and Madison Carroll
The next Architect and Tiny House design to be built during the 2024-2025 year will be Angelina Casanova! She is a 4-year Architecture Practicum student who has been in the selection ceremony 3 times.
Her Tiny House is designed to support the mental health of veterans and easy movement for those with disabilities living at Langtree. It has many features including many windows for natural lighting, a separate reading nook room, a hanging TV, a kitchen table, hanging plants, an outside patio, and more! It's truly an amazing house that Tiny House can't wait to start on!

Congrats to our 2024 graduates!
One of our biggest events of the year, our open house is a showcase of the finished Tiny House! Included is a fan favorite feast (LOL), celebrations, memories, and of course, tours of the completed house! It's a wonderful banquet that represents what we as an organization can accomplish through the school year, and it's amazing to see what we, as students, can do.
