Remind is a text message and smartphone app service we use to send key dates and information, reminders, and event details to Hudson students from our Student Life, Athletics and Guidance Departments. It is designed specifically for school use.
Parents/guardians must consent to students receiving these text messages.
Students can only receive messages, not send them. They cannot communicate with one another through the service.
Students do not have to download a separate app to receive messages through Remind. They will receive messages by SMS.
Remind is not used for homework reminders/due dates, one-on-one communication or call-outs, and/or disciplinary communication.
You may opt-out at any time.
Student contact information will remain confidential. It is not recorded on our other Student Information Systems, nor used to contact students outside of the app. You control information deletion, and should you choose, after signing up, to delete your student’s account, all information will be deleted.

During the school day, our campus is closed to everyone except for Hudson students, parents, staff, and persons having business with the administration or staff. Doors are locked during school hours, and visitors must sign in at the main office.
Please see our Upper School Policies for information regarding safe arrival requirements, early departures, field trips, and off-campus privileges.
The Upper School occupies the third floors of both the East and West sides of our campus. Each room number aligns with its relative location. For example: Room 304 (3 indicates the 3rd floor on the East Side), Room W304 (3 indicates the 3rd floor, W indicates the West Side).
The first two floors of the West Side are occupied by Stella Maris Elementary School. Hudson students must only use the stairs on the north side of the building to access the third floor on the West Side.
Key Locations:
Gymnasium - 1st floor, East Side
iHub - 3rd floor, East Side
The Zone - 3rd floor, East Side
The Post - 3rd floor, West Side
Common Room - 3rd Floor
Cafeteria - 3rd Floor, East Side
Students must complete a Locker Registration Form to obtain a locker. School lockers are the property of Hudson College and are loaned to students while enrolled in the College. No posters, markings or writing is allowed on the outside locker doors. Students are responsible for any damage caused to lockers.
For space and safety reasons, backpacks are not allowed in classrooms and must be stored in lockers.
Lockers must be secured with combination locks only. No key locks are allowed. Lockers using key locks will have the lock removed. Hudson College reserves the right to enter lockers in cases of emergency and for health and safety reasons.
Never share your lock combination number with other students. Be sure your lock is closed each time you use it, and never leave your locker open or unattended. Hudson College accepts no responsibility whatsoever for lost or stolen belongings, or any items removed from student lockers.
Do not store valuable items in lockers: they are not completely secure. If for any reason a valuable item needs to be brought to school, please bring it to the Main Office or the Principal for safekeeping.
Near the end of each school year, the school will have “Locker Clean-out Days” to allow students to remove unwanted materials. Advance notice will be given.
When a student withdraws, it is their responsibility to remove the lock and locker contents. Hudson will not be responsible for items left in a locker once the student ceases to be enrolled.
It is the student’s responsibility to look after the personal items at school. Do not leave items like purses, bags, wallets, cell phones, iPods and similar things unattended.

Please contact it@hudsoncollege.ca if you need help connecting to the app or email reset password instructions.
The front of school on Ascot Avenue is a 10-minute stopping zone. We ask parents to avoid lingering during busy arrival and dismissal times. The City of Toronto Parking Authority regularly tickets cars parked illegally on Ascot Avenue.

If you will be at the school for more than a few minutes, please park further west on Ascot Avenue, on a nearby side street (Boon Ave, Goodwood Ave, St Clair Gardens and Day Ave), or the Green P parking on Norton Avenue.

Students are required to wear only the designated Hudson school uniform on all school days from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. (no exceptions, unless otherwise designated as school Dress Down Days) and on all Monday to Friday school-sponsored trips and/or activities. Teachers will not allow students to stay in the classroom if they are not following the dress code. Any student not following the dress code is subject to being sent home for the day. Repeated dress code violations will result in disciplinary action.

Student grooming should reflect a business-like manner. No dyeing of hair, body piercing or shaving one’s head is permitted while enrolled as a Hudson student. The Principal will be the arbitrator of proper grooming practices.
The Hudson gym uniform is required for gym and sport competitions. House shirts may not be worn.
Please label all uniform clothing. Misplaced items that are labelled are returned to the student or the class teacher, while unlabelled items are placed in the lost property closet on the first floor. Hudson also has a partnership with Mabel’s Labels; to order custom labels, go to campaigns.mabelslabels.com and choose “HUDSON COLLEGE” from the School/Organization list.
The Lost and Found closet is on the first floor, to the right of the main foyer.

How is the lunch served?
High school students collect their lunches in takeaway boxes from the main foyer to eat in the cafeteria. Condiments are included with each meal.
Do I have to order every day?
No. You can order as little or as often as you like.
What about allergies and peanuts?
We follow a nut-aware school protocol in our kitchen (see Allergies and Restrictions below), but are unfortunately unable to accommodate special requests and substitutions.
What if my child is away?
Please log into your account to cancel at least 48 hours beforehand. Lunches not cancelled by this time will be charged and will remain on your account and be billed. If there are any issues, please contact lunch@hudsoncollege.ca.
Does Hudson provide snacks?
No; students should bring nut-free snacks from home.
Our school, including the kitchen, is a nut-aware environment. Parents and guardians are responsible for notifying Hudson of any changes in students’ allergic reactions. Students with known allergies, specifically food allergies, should be taught to always read food ingredient labels and not to accept or share food items with others.
Due to the limitations of our kitchen, we are unable to accommodate special requests or substitutions. If our current menu does not provide foods that meet a student’s needs and requirements, parents/guardians agree to provide meals and snacks from home for them.
Please ensure that all food brought to school is nut-free. If a student inadvertently brings a nut product to school, they should notify a teacher, who will dispose of the item.
Please encourage your child not to share any food items with classmates to help prevent unintentional allergic reactions.
Please ensure your child washes their hands prior to coming to school in case they may have eaten nut products at home.
Students are asked to wash their hands using antibacterial soap/hand sanitizer and water after lunch.
If a student is ever in doubt as to the contents of a food item from home, they should ask their teacher to check the list of ingredients before consuming the item.
Students are encouraged to sign up for a variety of sports teams, clubs and activities to foster a strong sense of school community and pride. These activities help students to learn new skills, cement friendships and gain confidence and self-esteem beyond academic pursuits. Our teachers act as mentors in clubs, sports and activities; we also engage community experts for some lunchtime activities and after-school programs.

Students begin using myBlueprint in Grade 9 study skills workshops. Students will create personal profiles by answering a variety of academic and personal questions, which will build a variety of unique pathways for each student over time. This information can be used to help students in planning their various university and career pathways.
Students in all grades use myBlueprint for course selection in the spring semester each year. Students will be guided in grade-specific course selection workshops prior to the course selection due date.
Parents will be automatically emailed for final approval immediately following student course selection. Once approved, the course selection for each student will be forwarded to school administration to create their timetable.
Students are invited to Google Classrooms for each course at the beginning of each semester. Google Classrooms are used by students for assessment submission and as a place to locate class resources, syllabi, and announcements. Parents will receive an email invitation from the school during the second week of each semester to sign up for Classroom email summaries. In these email summaries, you can review your child’s missing work, the upcoming week, class announcements, assignments, and questions recently posted by teachers.
