8 Letter Word

Our goal is to create a custom 8 letter word message to be displayed at a bank, the letters should scroll through to spell the word, we must use at least one NAND and one NOR gate to create the k-maps and wiring, it should be school appropriate and approved by the bank manager, one Mr. Weiland.

The main idea of this project was to learn, apply and design a seven segment display to display a word of our choice.

I spent the majority of this project on the wiring and troubleshooting as sometimes the wires looked to line up and be in the correct place but ended up not being so. I chose the chips that I did as the order followed how I had the wiring set up on multisim, going invertor, and, or, nand, nor, and, or. This helped me to organize while building the circuit and guided my placement.

If I had to give a recommendation it would be to make sure every segment works before going onto the next one, not just checking the one you just finished but all ones before that as well to make sure nothing was unplugged or messed up along the way.
