D.C. 7th grader raises $7K for first responders who saved his brother's lifeWASHINGTON (WJLA) – A special moment in Northwest D. C. was celebrated at a D. C. firehouse on Thanksgiving Eve. Caption: WJLA. A 25-year-old man and his family were reunited with the firefighters who saved his life. Michael Fontaine was running this summer when he suddenly collapsed. Strangers rushed to help, and then first responders took over. He finally got to thank those firefighters -- and his 12-year-old brother, a 7th-grade student in D. C.

As we observe Veterans Day let us pause and give a prayer for all who have served our nation. We would not have the opportunities and freedom that we enjoy today without their selfless service and sacrifice.

Dear God,

We ask for blessings on all those who have served their country in the armed forces.

We pray that you will bless them for their unselfish service and sacrifices they made in pursuit of freedom for all.

We ask for healing for the Veterans who have been wounded, physically, mentally, and spiritually, during wartime.

Bring peace to their hearts and peace to the regions they fought.

We ask for an end to wars and peace around the world, as a way to honor all the Veterans.

We ask this in Jesus’ holy name.

Amen.

We are looking for creative and eye-catching posters that best support the cause of social justice.

Posters must include the following:

A positive visual and/or verbal message
Any medium may be used, (crayon, paint, pencil, marker, photographs, etc.).
Submissions may be 8.5" x 11".
All images and content must be your own, original work, or free from copyright restrictions.
Open to all Holy Trinity families/individuals.
Only one entry per person.
Entry Deadline: EXTENDED until 5pm, October 30. Scan your entry and email to aklick@trinity.org or mail to/drop off at the Parish Center.
Top 3 designs will be printed and displayed on the gates in front of the Chapel and Church.
By submitting the entry form, the artist (and/or artist’s parent/guardian) grants permission for Holy Trinity to display, photograph, and reproduce the submitted work for publicity purposes.
Any student whose work is selected by the parish for display will earn 10 points!
