Council Description:
Yearly goals:
This council is designed to create spaces for safe and critical conversations at HTS around race, anti-black racism, anti-asian hate, anti-indigenous and discrimination of marginalized students. Understanding the experience of our Black, Indigenous, Asian, and Other Students of Colour and racialized identities is important to create an inclusive school environment at HTS. We want to work together with the student body to understand the student experience, visible and invisible, and support the school in making the necessary changes to make our community safe and inclusive for all. Our goal is to create a school environment that is anti-racist. If you are looking to advocate and champion human rights and to be uncomfortable having important and honest conversations about the human experience of our students of colour - we would love to have you join our council.
To address microaggressions within our school
To review HTS policies and regulations to promote anti-racism
To host significant events such as Black History Month and Cultures Week to raise awareness about cultures and racialized issues
Create safe and vulnerable spaces throughout the school
Educate and inform others about ways to promote inclusive practices
