Sign Up For Early Winter Sports Is Open!
Overview: The middle school track and field program is designed to provide student-athletes with opportunities to develop their athletic abilities, build confidence, and experience healthy competition in a positive and supportive environment. Track and field offers a variety of events that allow students to explore their strengths and interests while developing speed, endurance, strength, coordination, and teamwork. Athletes are encouraged to challenge themselves, demonstrate good sportsmanship, and work toward personal improvement throughout the season.
Short Distance Running
Short distance running events focus on speed, acceleration, and technique. Athletes compete in sprint events such as the 100m, 200m, 400m and Hurdles that require quick starts, efficient running form, and strong finishes.
Long Distance Running
Long distance running events challenge athletes to build endurance, mental toughness, and pacing strategies. Participants run in longer distances such as the 800m and 1600m while developing cardiovascular fitness and resilience.
Relay Events
Relay events combine individual performance with teamwork and communication. Athletes work together to successfully complete races by passing a baton between teammates while maintaining speed and efficiency. Relays include the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, and the 1600M Medley (200m, 200m, 400m, 800m).
Jumping Events
Jumping events provide athletes with opportunities to develop explosive power, body control, and athleticism. Participants learn the skills and techniques required for events such as the long jump and high jump.
Throwing Events
Throwing events allow athletes to develop strength, balance, coordination, and proper technique. Middle school throwers learn the fundamentals of events such as the shot put and discus, focusing on safety, body control, and correct throwing mechanics.
