Practices:
All Students MUST be properly equipped for practices wearing proper footwear and attire. Practices may be before or after school. Each athlete will receive a practice schedule from their coach at the beginning of the season.
Students that have a parent note to sit out of PE and/or recess excuses them for 3 days and can NOT participate in athletes either. If students have a doctor's note that states they are out of PE and /or recess they can NOT participate in Athletics until the release date. We MUST have a doctor's release not just a parents verbal release.
If a player has an unexcused absence from a practice, he/she will not be allowed to participate in the next game. This includes, but is not limited to detentions, not telling a coach personally he/she will miss a practice, or being in school and not showing up at practice. If a player has three (3) unexcused absences, he/she may be removed from the team. If a student athlete misses a practice the day before a game, it
will affect the playing time in that game at the discretion of the coach.
Playing time:
Playing time is at the discretion of the coach. Students earn their playing time through their commitment, attitude, effort, skills and the environment of the game situation. We offer 3 levels of athletic experiences at Harrison:
5th grade/6th grade team = developmental (learning of the skill) and all players will get playing time. Usually we have an A and B game, so all players can get a chance to learn in a game situation but that is dependent upon our opponents and roster size.
7th grade team = Learning to be competitive, we enter our conference and win/ losses start to matter. At this level student athletes are starting to learn the strategies of the game. Playing time is earned and not equal.
8th Grade team = Competitive; Preparation for high school. Playing time is earned and not equal.

BEHAVIOR POLICY
Student athletes are students first and the behavior decisions they make during the school day can affect their playing time in their current sport. We expect our student athletes to carry themselves as leaders in our school and follow the Harrison ABC’s (Act responsible, Be respectful and Care about Safety) We also know that students learn from their mistakes, so the following disciplinary actions will be taken for all behavior referrals.

Minor = needs to be a consequence determined by the coach per incident.
3 minors that turn into a major = half - 1 game suspension - depending on the violation. To be determined by the Athletic Director.
