Presentation Schedule
Option 1: Choosing Your Career Presentation
with Youth Employment Services (YES)
YES’s Choosing your Career presentation aims to provide youth with tools and inspiration to begin exploring long-term career goals. The presentation focuses on the value of a fulfilling career, tools to help youth narrow down their career interests, and important considerations when deciding on a career. The presentation includes two hands-on activities: one focusing on helping the youth explore fulfilling employment, as well as the computerized version of the Holland/ RIASEC Test to determine students’ “career code” and explore options they might not have previously thought of. Students will require access to their phone or a computer to complete the Holland test.
Option 2: Introduction to Apprenticeship

Option 3: The Value of Volunteering
with Volunteer Manitoba
We’re going to learn what exactly volunteering is, we’ll focus on the benefits of volunteering for youth, and tips for how to get started. We’re going to talk about how volunteering can assist with determining future education and career options, and how it adds value to your resume. We’re going to learn about networking, what it means, and the value in it. Practical examples of how youth can get involved in their community will also be discussed.
Option 4: Financial Literacy
with the Canada Revenue Agency's Outreach Team (CRA)
Interested in understanding more about money? Check out this presentation by the CRA on financial literacy topics that include:
why we file taxes,
getting a SIN (social insurance number),
starting that first job and getting a paycheque,
tax slips and doing a tax return,
common benefits and credits you can claim,
and how to stay safe from scams.

Option 6a: Fund My Future Project: The Canada Learning Bond
with Youth Employment Services (YES)
Introducing the Canada Learning Bond! In this information session, students will learn about a federal grant available to them if they fit the eligibility requirements. Youth must be born after 2004 or later and must apply with a parent/guardian if under the age of 18 when applying.
What is it?
The Government of Canada is offering families up to $2000 towards post-secondary funds depending on annual household income.
Who is eligible?
You are born on/after January 1, 2004
You are a resident of Canada
You have valid ID
Your family met the eligible income criteria for at least one year while you were 0-15 years old, or you have been in foster care
What can I use the money for?
Tuition for university/college/trades/apprenticeship programs
Rent money
Technology
Vehicle / Travel expenses
School supplies and any other student-life related expenses!
