School counselors offer resources and help for academic, future planning, personal and many other issues. We recognize the importance of feeling supported and developing healthy coping skills as students navigate the many changes and stressors that may come up during this unique time of life. We are here as a safe resource for listening, supporting, as well as situational problem solving and helping to manage difficult issues. In many cases, student concerns may be resolved by talking them through in the school counselor office.
Mental health is vital for success and well being and it can affect our academic achievement and ability to learn, and our goal is to support them in their personal, social and emotional concerns. In some instances, students may need more support that can be provided by school and would benefit from talking to someone outside of school that is specifically trained to assist students with mental health concerns. In these cases, we may look to our professional mental health counselor.
Hennessey Public Schools supports staff and student mental health and well being. HPS has partnered with Wright Counseling Solutions, PLLC for the 2023-2024 school year. Services are available at our school for students on a limited basis and is free of charge. Parent or guardian consent is required. For more information or to see if a professional counselor referral would be right for you or your child, talk to Mrs. Moery (or your building school counselor).
