Phantom is a musical with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and book by Arthur Kopit, based on the novel The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux. Though some may be more familiar with the musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber, this version is a beautiful, creative, and tragic telling of the classic novel. HPA patrons will know Yeston as the Tony Award winning composer of Titanic, the Musical! We will need passionate performers employing song and dance to bring to life the cacophony of characters in and around the life and culture of the theater. The elegant setting and exquisite art mixed with the story’s intrigue and suspense create a rich experience for actor and audience alike! Females age 13 and older along with males 12 and older are encouraged to audition to play a wide variety of entertaining characters, from the lively and fun to the serious and intense. You will want to experience the music for yourself—listen to the soundtrack here. You can find some great information about the history of the show, as well as a synopsis, here.
