Meet the Teacher
Allison Kelso
Hello, I'm Allison Kelso, and I teach World Cultures in Cluster 6L. This is my sixth year at Lanier and second year teaching World Cultures. I graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio with a double major in English and History. I've always been a history nerd, and I love sharing random trivia and fun history facts with my classes. I'm looking forward to having a great school year with all of you!
Class overview
The emphasis of this course is the study of people and places of the contemporary world. Societies selected for study include: Europe, Russia, and the Eurasian republics, the Americas, Southwest Asia-North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Australia and the Pacific Realm. Students examine and evaluate the influence of individuals and groups on historical and contemporary events. A key focus of this course is an examination of the effects of geography in historical and contemporary events.
