The 5th-grade ELA teacher initially struggled with managing time to plan for different subjects. After addressing these concerns and class preparedness issues, I introduced a "Day Card" to organize planning periods with specific deliverables, at-bats, unpacking the standard, and copy submission. This tool promoted a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations and fostering accountability. The teacher's spot observation average was Progressive II before implementing the Day Card and coaching sessions. With organized planning and targeted coaching, the teacher transformed into our "Rockstar," consistently achieving a Proficient II score during IRT and an average spot observations of 11.6. This empowerment and structured support contributed significantly to our campus being recognized as a Top Ten campus for student growth and achievement in the South Division.
To promote a high-performance culture among Learning Coaches and ensure they support the New Education System (NES) model, I created "Day Cards." These cards help Learning Coaches understand the expectations of their role, organize their day, and allow the administration team to assign them additional duties as needed. This initiative has resulted in Proficient scores for every NES walk and a significant increase in overall student growth and achievement across all subjects.
