Ninth grade math students took on the challenge of working in groups to build projects out of inexpensive wood to beautify the hallway. They applied basic math skills to create their products.
Shadow Box
Students designed a shadow box, accounting for the math needed from the measurement and angles to cut all the pieces at the proper degrees so they would properly fit together. They used the laser cutter to create the words and symbols inside the box.
Other tools used: Speed square, clamps, table saw, miter saw, paint.
Mirror Frame
Students did the math needed to create a mirror frame out of 1x2 pine and scrap plywood. They painted the wood and decorated it with phrases they cut using the Glowforge Pro laser cutter.
