Hope Squad's official Day of Hope is the 3rd Thursday of every February.
Day of Hope provides an opportunity to encourage hope on a state and national level, as well as spread the Hope Squad message of suicide prevention through education, training, and peer intervention.
Students will take part on this day in hope-promoting activities including:
random acts of kindness
kind notes to peers
wearing yellow for suicide prevention awareness
From Lehi, UT
Hope Squad members at Lehi Jr High in Lehi, Utah prepare for the Day of Hope. As students arrive at school on February 12, they may sign a pledge to take care of themselves and others. After each student signs the pledge, they get 3 red dots and 3 white dots of face paint above their eyebrow. The face painting dots has been a tradition to signify the beginning of Hope Week for the past couple of years and has been very popular.
During the Day of Hope, teachers will randomly announce for the students to check under their desks for a Golden Ticket that may be redeemed for treats and gifts cards. At the end of the day, the squad members will give candy to each student as they leave the school with a positive message of hope.
