Makeup Work Procedures
MAKE-UP WORK PROCEDURES (for excused absences only)
Regular school attendance is an important part of a student’s school experience. The make-up procedures are based on the premise that class time is of prime importance. After an excused absence, the following responsibilities exist: Students will be allowed 3 days for every excused absence to complete make-up work. If a student is absent for 2 or more consecutive days, the student will collaborate with his/her teachers to develop a plan to make-up work. The student must make these arrangements within two (2) school days after returning to school. Make up work/assessments should be completed with the teacher before/after school or during AO. Options also include morning make-up (tests - M-T-TH-F, 7:15-8:05 am) and Saturday School (8am-12pm). It is up to the teacher and student to make the necessary arrangements for the completion of make-up work.
*Note - Missing school for field trips and school activities is not considered to be a student absence; therefore, the make-up work procedures for field trips and school activities are different and will be handled by the teacher. Students must meet with their teachers before the dates they will be missing in order to establish a plan.
- Field trip sponsor/coach must help establish a plan for the student to follow the teacher’s expectations for make-up work, especially in situations where multiple days were missed.
- For field trips and school activities (i.e. basketball game attendance, college visits, etc.), make-up procedures are up to teachers at their discretion. Long-term assignments such as projects, papers, etc. should be submitted by the assigned date.
