ABOUT US

In 2023, Homestead Elementary was the recipient of the Campus Excellence Grant from LEF Foundation to create a space for students, designed to foster creativity in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM). 

This versatile environment is engineered to serve as a multi-purpose hub, adapting seamlessly to various educational needs

• Extended enrichment learning

• Brain Breaks

• Centers for focused activities

• Indoor recess

• Collaborative space

The lab was developed in response to the budget cuts that eliminated a science discovery class, using leftover materials. This project was created and lead by Joylynn Huynh Ngo with her STEAM Team volunteers and supported by Mr. Sean Perry and Homestead PTA. With a $2500 grant and community donors, the lab officially opened in March 2024 and offer activities aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills curriculum. Teachers can tailor the lab's activities to their current lessons and bring students in for engaging, hands-on experiences.
