UPCOMING EVENTS AT HOMAI SCHOOL:
Week 10: Homai's Got Talent Finals. Juniors on Tuesday and Seniors on Wednesday.
Week 10: Te Wiki o te reo Māori. Monday flag raising ceremony at 915am.
Kia ora whānau,
In week 10, we will be celebrating Te Wiki o te reo Māori. We have been given some tasks to complete as a class. Each task is worth points. At the end of week 10, the class with the most points wins a prize. As there are a few tasks, Room 4 will start attempting and completing some of these tasks in week 9 and 10. There is a task worth 50 points which asks tamariki to cook a Māori dish at home with their whānau and send a picture to their teacher. If you are wanting to give this task a go, please let Whaea Karen know and she may be able to help you out with some recipes to make a Māori dish. If you wanted to have a go at some of these tasks at home, please feel free to try and learn with your tamariki.
Week 8: Wear Purple this Friday 5th September to show your appreciation to all our LEARNING SUPPORT STAFF at Homai School.
Cypher Belle, Vanila, Jordan and Zain wore purple today. Thank you all for making an effort to show our solidarity to our kaiako that help us out from time to time. Special shout out to Whaea Tupe, Whaea Hope, Mrs G, Whaea Charlie, Whaea Hannah and Whaea Helan who help us out now and then.
Week 5 Thursday: Room 4 tamariki had a painting session with the lovely Monique. With guidance and support, our children got the opportunity to paint a ruru (an owl). They used different sized brushes and paints and watched and listened to Monique as she narrated them through the process. This was a very calm and stimulating experience for our children. A wonderful opportunity for them to feel at peace in their mind and body.
Monique shows the tamariki the picture of the ruru.
Jordan outlines the ruru's body.
Vaibhav takes his time with the colours.
Sivilaise really listens well.
Zain colours all the space of the paper.
Sivilaise took her time perfecting each stage.
Kia Ora whānau,
Breakfast club occurs in the hall from 830am. If you would like to have breakfast before coming to class, please head to the hall. Whaea Helan will assist you with breakfast to fuel you up in the morning. This is free, there is no cost at all.
