Kia ora whānau,
My name is Whaea Karen and welcome to Room 4. In our class we have some teacher aides that support us throughout our day here. We have Whaea Milika and Whaea Usu. You may seem one of them in our class during drop off and pick up times. Feel free to speak with them, they are super friendly.
Every Tuesday and Wednesday, tamariki will have practices for the Aroha Festival. This means tamariki will not be in class in the afternoon and will be in another part of the school with the culture group they are performing with. They will return to class around 220pm-230pm so please be patient on these two days as tamariki will be late back to class.
Room 4's swimming days are every Tuesday and Friday from 12noon to 12.30pm. We would appreciate any whānau who can come and support us during this time with supervision of the children whilst they are in the pool as well as helping them to get changed. Please let me know if you are available to help out on these days.
Keep an eye out for the upcoming events and notices at our kura

18/3/26 Frozen Thursday and sausage sizzle. $2 per sausage $1 per iceblock.
31/3/26 Aroha Festival to be held in the hall. All are welcome to attend.
03/04/26 is Good Friday. School is closed on this public holiday. (2 weeks school holiday begins).
Please like and follow the Homai School FACEBOOK page for regular updates. Please also download the Skool Loop App. You will get updates as well on here and you may also use this App to inform the school of your child's absence.
Please get a late slip from the office if your child arrives after 9am. If you need to pick your child up early, you must get a early slip from the office and return this to me (Whaea Karen). Tamariki may leave without a slip to go home from 220pm onwards.
As we are still in the summer season, all children must wear a hat outside at playtimes. Even when it is cloudy or overcast, our tamariki can still get sunburnt. Please ensure your child has a hat that we can keep at school. No hat means your child must stay in the shaded areas of school.
Please make sure you bring your child's blue homework bag back by Friday so new homework can be put in the bag for the weekend. Remember to just do what you can. And if you need help, let Whaea Karen know.
We have free nit care for your child's hair. A bottle was sent home on Friday with your child. If you need more, please see Whaea Karen.
