All students in grades 4-8 have a Google Classroom for Performing Arts. This is a Chrome application where I post assignments, quizzes, and materials for classwork. It can be accessed from any computer by signing into your child's school email and selecting the "Classwork" tab to view the assignments. Along with Option C, this is another great resource to check that your child is completing all work in a timely manner. Feel free to email me with any questions.

Accepting donations for listening centers!

What is a listening center, you may ask? In my class, my year-long focus is to teach music appreciation. It is important to me that my students be exposed to all genres of music so they can learn to form opinions and maybe discover and fall in love with a new style of music. I want them to be able to do that in a variety of avenues which brings me to listening centers.

Listening centers are an individual way for students to listen to music with their own device and headphones. This allows them to make a more personal connection with the music that they are choosing. My goal is to use these for small groups in times when the class is participating in multiple activities.

I'm asking for donations of used iPhones and/or iPods (iPod touch would be preferred, but I won't be picky!) as well as over-the-ear headphones (think old school, not earbuds...and they don't have to be fancy). I do have a few already, but I would like to make this a more substantial center in my classroom. I truly think the students would enjoy being able to choose their own music.
