Founded in 1592 and modeled after the collegiate universities of Oxford and Cambridge, Trinity College Dublin is Ireland's oldest University. Holy Cross students that choose to attend Trinity for the academic year have the opportunity to join the school’s full-time Irish and international students in classes across various disciplines. Located in the very heart of Dublin city center and just steps from the most iconic pubs in Ireland and the historic Temple Bar district, Trinity has an unbeatable location! Among its many famous alumni are Bram Stoker, Oscar Wilde, Samuel Beckett, Eamon de Valera, Mary Robinson, Paul Mescal, and Sally Rooney. This year-long program is kicked off with Trinity's semester start-up course, which is exclusively offered to international students. The course combines lectures and field trips to provide an overview of Irish history and culture. Trinity College is an ideal choice for students who want to experience living in a European city center while studying with local students. To excel at Trinity, students must be passionate about immersing themselves in a new culture and be self-motivated, especially when it comes to academics. This program is competitive- spaces are limited and will be awarded to the students with the highest GPAs (3.5 minimum).

You will purchase a flight to Dublin Airport from your 'home airport'- wherever that may be! Once you land in Dublin, we recommend taking a taxi to your student accommodation at 35-38 Cork Street, The Liberties, Dublin. You can either exit the airport and walk to the taxi stand, or use the Free Now taxi app to order a taxi. Even when you don't use the app, most taxi drivers accept payment via credit card.
Even though Holy Cross students get to be in Dublin for an entire year, it is impossible to run out of fun things to do! The city is rich both in history and in modern art. Just outside the Georgian buildings that define Trinity is Grafton Street, always busy with shoppers and filled with music being performed by buskers (Ed Sheeran was discovered there 💕). But if you need a break from the hustle and bustle, you can take the DART train into nearby towns to find hiking trails or go for a sea swim. One of the most popular hikes among students at Trinity is the Howth Cliff hike. Click to learn more insider info on all the fun things to do in and around Dublin!
"I took [study abroad] as an opportunity to develop my resilience and independence. I set up my own phone plan, learned to navigate the public transit systems in several major cities, coordinated day trips and weekend trips, travelled to a new city on my own, and experimented with new ways of thinking academically. I was surprised but proud to learn how independent I can be when I don’t use my parents, brother, and professors as crutches. Based on my own experiences, I truly believe that study abroad is a great chance for young people to take that leap of faith and learn what it means to be independent before they graduate and enter the real world"
