As a Junior in high school, I am currently cheering competitively for Holliston, but for most of my year, I compete at an all-star gym, Rocket Cheer, based out of Natick, MA. I am also an active member of Holliston High School's Environmental Club, SADD Club, and Math Team. I have been a tutor for the last three years, which is when my passion for Sustainable Development Goal 4, Quality Education, began. Being a part of our school's Global Citizenship program has been an amazing experience for me, for I have learned what it means to be an active member in the community and now have the chance to take action. I've chosen to target SDG4, for achieving quality education globally is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty, inequality, and all 17 SDGs.
Kids struggle with education because they worry about not being able to keep up, Kids struggle with education because they are unmotivated. But 273 million kids globally struggle to even step foot into a classroom, whether they live in a crisis zone, their country doesn't have the funds to build educational systems, or families can't support their children with the resources they need to attend school. As someone who has grown up with a quality education, I understand that it is a privilege. Having an education does not just open up work opportunities, but helps society stay informed and individuals to live independently
Over the next two months, I will be running a drive with the help of Cradles to Crayons with the goal of collecting a substantial amount of clothing that will be evenly distributed to families across the country. There are so many barriers to learning as it is; however, an estimated 2 out of every 5 children are currently clothing-insecure. Clothing insecurity refers to the inability to access or afford adequate, properly fitted, and seasonally appropriate clothing.

Cradles to Crayons is an organization founded by Lynn Margherio, whose mission is to collect essentials for kids to thrive at school and at home, working toward a future free of childhood poverty. Cradles to Crayons believes that everyone deserves the everyday essentials necessary to survive and is committed to making that belief a reality for most children, holding the shared vision of what our world would look like if every kid had access to what they needed to reach their full potential. I chose to work with this organization because they share the same vision of wanting to provide for families who can't give their children the proper resources for school. Since 2002, Cradles to Crayons has distributed 5 million packages globally to families in need, helping them to support their kids in school. My goal through this donation drive is to contribute to the amazing movements this organization has made, but to also encourage communities to continue to donate to this fund.
Cradles to crayons is one of the many organizations that gives indivduals the oppertunity to volunteer. Cradles to Crayon's Givin Factory in Newton, MA, allows for groups, families, and even individuals to quality check new or lightly used clothing before packaging.

Education cannot wait is one of many funds that works to restore school facilities and fund government systems globally. Whether it is donating to a fund or collecting supplies and clothing, every donation makes a difference in the barrier of quality education
Helping kids to grasp a better understandin of the subject or subjects that they are currently struggling with is such an important way to spread education to your community, for even if you start small, your contibuation will continue to spread.
