FAQ

Q: Why earn the Computer Science Endorsement (CSE)?

For students who are interested in pursuing computer science or technology in the future, the CSE is a great way to get experience and foundational knowledge. The CSE is an excellent way to set yourself apart on college and scholarship applications.

But the best reason is, if you like computer science courses, you get to take more computer science courses!

Q: Who can join the CSE Program?

A: Any HHS students in grades 9-12 can participate in the program. Students are encouraged to sign up in time for spring course selection, but can join at any other appropriate time.

Q: What are prerequisites for participating?

A: The CSE Program does not require any specific knowledge or skill beyond normal course prerequisites listed in the Program of Studies for each course.

Q: What classes are part of the CSE program?

A: See the full listing of HHS electives that are part of the CSE Program.

Q: Can I count past classes toward the CSE?

A: Yes! If you completed a CSE-Related Elective prior to joining the CSE program, you may retroactively apply those credits toward the CSE requirements.

Q: Can I count online classes toward the CSE?

A: Online classes offered as a part of your HHS schedule can be considered for CSE credit. Be sure to talk with your counselor or the CSE Program Coordinator to confirm eligibility for a specific course.

Q: What's my commitment if I join the CSE Program?

There will be occasional (about twice per year) informational meetings during DSB to help with announcements and scheduling. You will also need to meet individually with the Program Coordinator to review your progress and plan your independent project.

Q: Is there a penalty if I decide to leave the program later?

A: No. Any elective courses you took will of course stay on your transcript, but there is no penalty for leaving the program or not completing all of the program's requirements.

Q: What if I have more questions?

A: Feel free to use our Contact Form to ask a question, or contact Mrs. Kuhne, CSE Program Coordinator, at kuhnes@holliston.k12.ma.us
