What is Hold Fast Education?
Hold Fast Education is a unique hybrid alternative provision providing education for students who have barriers to learning in a mainstream setting.
How does Hold Fast Education work?
We hold Live Online Lessons on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 9am-12pm.
We also hold 2 Face-to-Face sessions per week, and students will attend in their allocated cohort: either AM or PM on Monday and Wednesday. Please ask if you are unsure which cohort your child is in.
How will Hold Fast Education support students in their GCSEs?
Hold Fast Education’s director is a secondary qualified English teacher with a masters degree in professional education and has extensive experience in Alternative Provisions and Pupil Referral Units. We also have a secondary qualified Maths lead who is also a chief examiner for the major exam boards covering Key Stage 2 SATS through to A-Level. Every student has access to Moodle, our Learning Management system, where resources and revision will be uploaded for students to work on alongside their Hold Fast Learning Material.
How will Hold Fast Education assess students to ensure they are on track?
Hold Fast Education records engagement, behaviour, and progress on a daily basis. Every week a formal report is created which is shared with parents/carers/guardians as well as the commissioner (Local Authority or school) and other appropriate professionals.
What happens during the Face-to-Face Sessions?
During these sessions, we will hold 1-1/small group academic sessions, recapping work and reviewing progress. Therapeutic interventions will also be available and will change termly. We will have art sessions, music sessions and sports-related sessions.
How will I be updated about my child’s progress?
You will receive a weekly report covering attendance, engagement, behaviour, and quality of work produced. You will also receive a termly report indicating academic progress and areas for development and improvement.
What do I do if my child cannot attend a session?
If your child is unwell and unable to attend, please email admin@holdfasteducation.co.uk or phone/text the Hold Fast Education Mobile between 8am-9am. If your child fails to attend and we have not received a message from a parent/carer/guardian, this will result in a phone call being made home and to the commissioner to inform them of your non-absence and we will conduct home visits as necessary.
How will Hold Fast Education keep my child safe online?
Hold Fast Education is committed to keeping your child safe online. We have a clear and detailed policy in place that outlines how we ensure the safety of our online platforms and provides guidelines on the do's and don'ts for students. We use Moodle, a globally recognized and trusted learning platform utilised by educational institutions worldwide. Each student is provided with their own secure login, and as a parent, you will also have access to monitor your child’s progress through a dedicated parent account. This ensures a secure, transparent, and safe learning environment for your child.
