Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library, South Campus
The Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library is the 11-story library building located at the south end of the Unispan (pedestrian bridge that crosses Hempstead Turnpike). The University Library is a vibrant center of scholarship, research, and creativity, playing an active role in the Hofstra University community. The library plays a vital role in preparing students to thrive in all of their pursuits, and to become expert lifelong learners. The Library offers a wide array of services and resources to support your research and learning journey. Helpful librarians and library workers are available to assist students with all of their information needs and research questions.
Axinn Library provides 24/7 online access to over 200,000 full-text journals and more than 800,000 electronic books. Encourage your student to take advantage of the group study rooms, the comfortable lounge study areas on the ground and main floors, and the newly renovated 10th floor study space.
Students may begin their research at the University Library homepage (www.hofstra.edu/library), using the Discovery search box for articles, books, audiovisual, and other resources. The A-Z list of databases provides access to the 260+ electronic databases available to students, and the Research Guides offers a basic introduction to Axinn Library’s resources and services, writing and citation styles, and pointers to disciplinary resources. Students may borrow any of the more than 500,000 books by presenting a valid Hofstra Credential at the Circulation Desk. When students visit Axinn Library, they should stop at the Reference Desk on the main floor to ask any questions about the services, resources, and spaces available to them.
