The Center for Career Design and Development educates and inspires students to create an individualized and evolving career path focused on exploration, preparation, and professional growth.
Through our programs and services, we provide access to opportunities that lead to successful outcomes for students, alumni, and our employer partners.
The Center for Career Design and Development offers one-on-one coaching, in-person and online workshops for groups (classes, student organizations, etc.), career fairs, creative networking events to connect students to alumni and other professionals, collaboration with campus departments and partners, and much more.
In addition to personalized coaching services and workshops, the Center for Career Design and Development offers a variety of online resources for students, all available on our website (hofstra.edu/career):
• Handshake, the centralized resource for jobs, internships, company connections, and all career events.
• Career Canvas Site - Students can receive 24/7 career support from our Canvas Site, the same place they would access their courses. Students can watch coaching videos on topics such as resume, cover letter, and navigating the hiring process. Students can also complete modules for certificates, learn internship strategies, and access major-specific resources.
• Career Innovation Lab: Students can attend our Career Innovation Lab open hours where they can receive career support in an open environment. Students will have the opportunity to use AI and VR powered tools to work on resumes and cover letters, practice for interviews, and receive any other career support they may need.
• Forage, a job simulation platform where students can gain hands-on experience and complete projects that would be done at real companies.
• Focus 2, a career assessment that helps students evaluate their values, interests, personality, and skills as they relate to various occupations and career paths.
