Science
The HMS science program is designed to introduce and develop a foundation in science through units of study in Grades 6-8. The NJ Student Learning Standards as well as the Next Generation Science Standards are the frameworks that guide the curriculum. Students will gain an understanding of many important areas of Life, Earth and Physical Sciences, over the course of their 3 years at HMS; and will utilize and understand scientific processes. Along with our iScience Program, Hoboken Public School System’s science curriculum has embedded one unit of study from Project Lead The Way: Gateway. PLTW empowers students to lead their own discovery. The hands-on program boosts classroom engagement and excitement, drives collaboration, and inspires “aha! moments” and deep comprehension. As students engage in PLTW’s activities in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science, they see a range of paths and possibilities they can look forward to in high school and beyond.
