Adult Volunteer Opportunities

These roles directly support the physical and emotional well-being of our animals.

• Dog Walking
  Provide dogs with regular outdoor time, potty breaks, and socialization.
  
  

• Cat Socializing
  Offer cats one-on-one attention to build trust and comfort around people.
  
  

• Dog Enrichment
  Engage dogs with toys, games, and sensory stimulation to reduce stress.
  
  

• Cat Enrichment
  Use tools like toys and treats to keep cats active and mentally stimulated.
  
  

• Teenternship
  (Teens only) Hands-on learning in animal care, primarily through support roles like cleaning and enrichment.

These roles help keep the shelter running smoothly, clean, and organized.

• Opening/Laundry
  Set up the shelter in the morning and assist with laundry duties.
  
  

• Closing/Cleaning
  Support end-of-day cleaning routines to ensure a clean and safe environment.
  
  

• Donation Sorting
  Organize and store donated items such as food, toys, and bedding.
  
  

• Transport
  Move animals or supplies between locations; must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

These roles focus on interacting with the public and representing HHS positively.

• Guest Experiences
  Greet guests, answer questions, and guide visitors around the shelter.
  
  

• Adoption Assistance
  Support adopters with meet-and-greets and basic information during adoption visits.
  
  

• Morning Greeter
  Provide a warm welcome to early visitors and volunteers and help them get oriented.
  
  

• Tours
  Lead tours for schools, scouts, and community groups to educate and promote HHS’s mission.

Help spread the word and represent HHS in the community.

• Special Events
  Participate in on- and off-site events to promote HHS, assist with set-up, and engage with attendees.
  
  

• Pet Food Pantry
  Distribute food and supplies to community pet owners in need.
  
  

• Pawsitive Impact
  Assist with humane education initiatives and school presentations.

• Volunteer Mentorship
  Guide and support new volunteers as they get acclimated to the shelter environment.
  
  

• Group Volunteer Opportunities

Coordinate one-time projects for schools, companies, and other organizations volunteering as a group.
