Staying connected and informed is key to making your volunteer experience smooth, enjoyable, and impactful. Here’s how you can stay in the loop and access helpful tools:
All important announcements and updates are posted in the Private Volunteer Facebook Group, in the Volunteer Handbook, and via email. Be sure to check these regularly to stay informed about schedule changes, policy reminders, events, and more.
Our digital newsletters are sent out monthly and include upcoming opportunities, volunteer highlights, shelter news, and helpful tips. If you’re not receiving them, you may have opted out of communication—check your Sustain profile under Data & Communication Settings to adjust your preferences.
If you ever have a question, need support, or want to schedule additional training, feel free to reach out: volunteer@hinsdalehumanesociety.org
You can also speak with staff members directly during your shift. If it’s not urgent, email is the best way to reach us quickly and clearly.
All volunteers are encouraged to complete the Fear Free Shelters Program - a free, self-paced online course that teaches gentle, stress-reducing techniques when working with animals. Once completed, let the Volunteer Manager know so we can update your file and celebrate your efforts to make HHS even more animal-friendly.
