Nginx is a light weight web server designed for modern websites with high concurrency and lots of traffic--perfect for for a LMS!

However, it's a totally different animal--I've tried a few times to setup Nginx and have come close (got a Moodle install running, but no image were showing up because of how it handles cgifix_pathinfo = 1 --tricky stuff!)....what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!!!
