Hoiho, Kea and Ruru

Hoiho

Hoiho is the New Entrant- Year 1 classroom at Hinds School. We work closely with the local preschool to support children in a successful transition to our school. We keep to a semi-structured day, incorporating inquiry-based learning to promote life-skills and knowledge. We foster independence through  our Hinds School Dispositions of GRIT, Joining Forces, Grounded and Thinking during structured play and learning activities. 

Kea

Kea is a Year 1 and 2 classroom at Hinds school.  We have a structured day that included reading through Better Start Literacy Approach. We enjoy making trips around the community and linking this to our inquiry. We foster independence through  our Hinds School Dispositions of GRIT, Joining Forces, Grounded and Thinking during structured play and learning activities. 

Ruru

Ruru is a Year 2 classroom in the Junior School. Ruru has a structured day, starting with Maths and then literacy. We connect our class  Inquiry Unit to our core curriculum subjects to foster rich learning opportunities.  We foster independence through our Hinds School Dispositions of Grit, Grounded, Thinking, and Joined Forces as our students grow into learners who know themselves and can make positive choices around how they learn and interact with others.
