Killed in Action at the Battle of Salerno

Entered the service January 8, 1940. He served in Africa and Italy. He was wounded during the invasion of Salerno, Italy. The later returned to his unit and received more wounds that resulted in his death at Cassino on February 11, 1944, one day after his 23rd birthday. Corporal Allen also received a Purple Heart.

Staff Sergeant Douglas was killed by a Grenade casualty in 1968. The incident occurred in the Gia Dihn Province, South Vietnam. Sergeant Douglas was listed as an Armor Crewman throughout his active duty.

He was awarded the Purple Heart and a Good Conduct Medal.

Senior Chief Conner was killed when his Special Electronic Tanker (EKA-3B) crashed offshore over South Vietnam. His remains were not recovered. Senior Chief Conner received the National Defense Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal for his service.

Private Hammer was killed in action when his 3rd Battalion faced well dug in German soldiers. Quotes from the After Action Report stated: " German mortar and artillery fire, because of excellent observation, was deadly accurate." He was awarded two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, a Meritorious Unit Citation, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Good Conduct Medal, and American, European, African, and Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbons.
