Corporal Allen entered the service January 8, 1940. He served in Africa and Italy. He was wounded during the invasion of Salerno, Italy. The later returned to his unit and received more wounds that resulted in his death at Cassino on February 11, 1944, one day after his 23rd birthday. Corporal Allen also received a Purple Heart.

Quotes from the After Action Report stated: " German mortar and artillery fire, because of excellent observation, was deadly accurate." He was awarded two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, a Meritorious Unit Citation, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Good Conduct Medal, and American, European, African, and Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbons.

Weldon enlisted on April 15, 1942, attended the V7 Apprentice Seaman Program at the University of Notre Dame, was the Regional Commander for the 7th class and was awarded the British Naval Officers Sword. Then he served at the USMR Midshipmen School in New York, New York, was on staff at the Pre- Midshipman School in Asbury Park, New Jersey, then training officer at the Pre-Midshipman School in Princeton, New Jersey, and also at the Midshipman School at Ft. Schuyler, Bronx, New York.

Sgt. Smith, the flight engineer, was killed when the B-24 H model nicknamed "CORAL PRINCESS" he was flying in crash landed and exploded after completing its 20th mission. The crew had been on a bombing mission to Helmstadt, Germany. The crash killed all 10 crew members that were aboard.
