Students and parents/caregivers are entitled to be well informed about assessment by providing timely and accurate information. Good assessment practices, as outlined in this website, reduce the need for formal appeals. However, all students have the right to appeal any assessment-related decision.
Students will have up to seven (7) school days after the return of internally assessed work in which to lodge an appeal regarding the level of achievement assigned to their work.
In the first instance, the student must discuss any issues with their subject teacher.
If the issue is not resolved to their mutual satisfaction, then an approach is made next to the HOLA/HOD.
If the student still feels the issue is not resolved then they may go and discuss this with the Principal’s Nominee (or email the Principal's Nominee: ncea@hillmorton.school.nz) who will make a recommendation to the Principal. The Principal’s decision is final.
At each level, the decision is communicated back to the student and the student’s whānau.
Loss of any documentation written or digital does not warrant an extension or consideration.
