Over the course of the month Ive noticed that over time I became less and less as someone who watches Ms.Nikki teach and learn from it, but as someone the students started to look up to as a mentor to them. I noticed (especially when there are substitute teachers) that the students come to me more often for help with spelling or math. I am very glad they can see me this way instead of acting shy (I was definitely shy my first week)
I would say with children, especially younger ones, patience is key. Sometimes when even you dont understand how to explain something to them, its best to do it as slowly as you can to make sure it sticks. I also recommend insight into their shenanigans, as children often have tried to play me to either do the work for them or give them the answer. So patience and insight are very important.
