Internship Week 4

Interview

This week I sat down and interviewed my mentor Drew Hubbell and asked him a series of questions about his life and career as well as. This link will take you to a transcription of the interview which was originally done through audio recording.

How has my role changed?

For the past few weeks I've been working on the McCarthy ADU, on week 3 I worked out measurements and dimensions and this week I made some prototypes for a housing unit in the rear of the property. My role has slowly begun to have more purpose compared to earlier in the internship.

What advice would I give to a junior in high school who wants to pursue a career in the field of my internship? Firstly I recommend making sure you know how to use a computer. Since at home, I use a different operating system from the type they use, it was confusing to relearn everything.

Project Troubles

It has been a struggle to work around the limited square footage of the site as well as the exterior conditions like natural lighting and sightlines from the windows as this residential unit is on a property with a previously existing residence. With only around 630 to 700 square feet to work with it was a real challenge to create a 2 bedroom model but It was way easier to create the 1 bedroom models.
